Progress!

Here is a picture of our finally finished dining area. We had my family over for lunch so my brothers helped lift the table to put the rug underneath. Doesn't it look so pretty?!?!?!?! It feels so NICE to have one room finally completed. The rest of the main level is mostly finished, but the upstairs is a totally different story!
The other picture is just cute. My parents got a new dog a couple months ago, another Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Bay (short for Besa). She is a very sweet little dog who loves to cuddle, especially with women. I don't usually let the dogs up on my furniture, but I want to recover that pink sofa anyway, so I figured it couldn't hurt this one time. Her face is so dark it looks a little funny in pictures.

Chris' Birthday

Chris wasn't very excited about his birthday - he think he's getting old or something! So I tried to make it really nice for him. The night before his birthday I gave him his first present - a duvet - something he's always talked about getting. So he woke up nice and comfy on his birthday! Unfortunately I got a cover that was too light, it looks a little too girly. But he likes it anyway. So, I made him breakfast and gave him a DVD and then that night I took him to a hotel. We discovered that now that we live in a really nice house and have a really nice tv, going to a hotel is a step down! He said I did a good job making it a nice day for him. Tonight we were supposed to go out to dinner for his birthday but he had to work late, so I'm not sure when we'll get to that.

Catching Up

Sorry that I've been MIA, the holidays were really crazy and it took me awhile to recover, then we were in the looooong process of buying a new computer so I just left all my pictures on my camera instead of putting them on the old computer and then having to move them. But now that everything is mostly back to normal I can finally get around to posting again!
So here are a couple pictures from the holidays. We had Peanut over Christmas, which was really fun. We bought him a gigantic bone because he eats normal size bones so quickly. Apparently this one was too big for him, he sniffed it once and hasn't touched it since.
The weekend after Christmas my sister and her family came down from New York to visit. We had so much fun exchanging presents and then celebrating my sister's birthday.

Our Utah Trip

We just got back from a week in Utah with Chris' family. It was too short, as usual, but we had a lot of fun. Chris' mom works at the county courthouse, so I got to put on the judges robe and play judge. We got to visit with Chris' grandparents, his sister and kids, and I got to drive up to Provo to see one of my college roommates and her husband and little girl. Chris' youngest nephew, Eric, last year wouldn't come near either of us, but this year was so friendly, it was so much fun! It only snowed the first night we were there, which was a little disappointing, but it made for much better driving conditions. We can't wait to go out again in July!

We have a living room!

My grandparents have recently sold their house and moved into a condo, which means they've had to get rid of a lot of stuff and we have been benefitting from it! Most recently we got two recliners and a table that we're using as a coffee table so that it actually looks like we have a fully furnished living room, it's very exciting. The cookie jar is something else that they were getting rid of and Chris thought it was the greatest thing. Well, more to the point he thought it looked psychotic and would be funny sitting in our kitchen. So, now that there's a picture of it, it's going into storage - permanently!

It's Christmas Time!

As I'm sure is the case with everyone spending their first Christmas in their first house, I couldn't wait to put up my tree. It's just the fake one we've had for years, I wasn't quite ready for all the pine needles and watering that a real tree requires. I went out today and bought a cute holiday welcome mat and cute holiday hand towels for the powder room. I'm having so much fun! And hopefully this weekend we'll be able to put up our outside lights, we've never put up outside lights because only a handful of people would have seen them on the farm. But no inflatable snowmen for me, that's a little over the top.

Thanksgiving

We had a very nice Thanksgiving yesterday with my parents and brothers. It wasn't our first time hosting Thanksgiving, but it was really exciting to have it in our own house this year! My brothers helped us set up the dining room table and living room rug that my aunt and uncle loaned to us. Our living room is finally starting to look like a real living room, it's so exciting!
